Power tips for using ZoE effectively and efficiently, and all keyboard shortcuts.
Click New, then Starter under Templates. The inputs, outputs and basic controls are already set up and tested on the device, so you only add your idea.
Click Open… and choose one or more local .bin files, or a .zip. Open a whole .zip bank to see all its patches at once and pick the one you want.
Click PatchStorage and search by words, tags or state. With Match all tags ticked, only patches that have all the chosen tags are shown. Click an author’s name in the results to see all patches by that author. Open a patch straight in the editor.
Save project keeps everything: all the patch information, including where the modules sit in ZoE. Export patch saves just the verified .bin file, ready for your ZOIA or Euroburo.
Clicked New too soon? Undo brings the old patch back, with everything in it. This even works after accidentally opening another patch.
Ctrl+Z
Hover over anything in ZoE when you need help. Some tooltips provide more details: modules, sockets, parameters and options show the device’s own help text; grid buttons show the module, block and value; parameter sliders show what each connection contributes.
ZoE keeps the workspace clean and organized: every view sorts the modules for you. Page view and the Grid view show them page by page, as on the ZOIA or Euroburo, which shows a patch only this way. Signal view adds what the device cannot show: the path of the audio and control signals from start to end. You can move modules in Page view and Signal view, but switching the view sorts them again (see Sort my modules).
P · S · G
Click a module: it appears in the middle of the workspace, on the next free grid buttons of the page chosen in the page menu, or of the next page with room. With all pages shown, and in Signal view, it goes to the first page with room. A message tells you where it went.
Drag it instead to drop it right where you want it: in Page view and Signal view next to the modules you want to connect it to, in the Grid view onto the grid button where it should start (a white frame shows that it fits). Switching the view, or clicking the view you are in once more, sorts the modules again.
Search: the search field above the inventory finds any module in all tabs.
Combos are ready-made snippets: small groups of connected modules that get a working patch going quickly. Click Combos under Templates and pick one, such as Volume or Tap tempo; then connect its open ends.
Drag a module whose audio is not connected yet onto a connected one. Drop it onto the left half of the target module to insert it before that module, or onto the right half to insert it after. ZoE connects its audio for you. A green frame means it fits, a red one that it lacks audio inputs or outputs.
To take a module out, select it and press Delete: Keep the path connects the modules before and after it again. Perfect for changing the audio path quickly, even in a finished patch.
Delete · Backspace
After adding or deleting modules, click the view you are in once more, or press its key: ZoE arranges all modules again and closes the gaps. Undo brings the old order back.
P · S
Click a module: its connections and the modules directly connected to it light up, the rest fades. Use Audio | All | CV at the top to see only its audio or only its CV connections.

Alt+click (Mac: Option+click) or Alt+drag a grid button. Circles mark the buttons it can connect to; a dot in the circle means that button already has a connection. Click or drop on one, then type the strength in % and press Enter.
Alt+click · Alt+drag
Drag an input onto another input that is already connected: it connects itself to the output that feeds that input. Drag an output onto another output to connect it to all inputs already fed by that output.
Select the connection, then drag the small circle at its start or end to another output or input. Strength and star stay as they were.
Click a connection to adjust its strength, using the same scale as the device: 100 % (0 dB) passes the signal unchanged, lower settings scale it down, and higher settings provide up to +12 dB of gain. No extra module needed.
In Edit Parameter, the circle is your knob setting (the bias) and the vertical line is what actually arrives through the connections. Check it when a modulated parameter does not do what you expect. Where the device can switch the format (such as Hz or note), click the value to switch it.
In Edit Module, give modules a name of up to 15 characters. The names show up in the Patch Inspector, Mod Map, Controls and on the device, so large patches stay readable.
Click the star next to a parameter to put it on the device’s starred list. There you change it quickly with the encoder knob, or assign it a MIDI CC. Connections can be starred as well. ZoE tells you when one MIDI CC moves several parameters at once.
Pick it in the page menu, step through the pages with ← and →, or press 0 to 9 for pages 0 to 9. In the Grid view, the page menu zooms to the chosen page.
0–9 · ← · →
Drag a page by its title and drop it before, between or after the other pages to change their order: a gold line shows where it will go. ZoE renumbers the pages and their modules for you, and every connection stays: much quicker than moving modules one by one.
Name your pages, such as “Controls” or “FX”: the device shows the name, and the page menu becomes a table of contents. With nothing selected, the Patch Inspector lists the pages to name.
In the Grid view, drag the module to free buttons, or click a grid button in its inspector.
Select a button and press Shift+← or Shift+→ to go to the previous or next button with a module.

When modules overlap, the one underneath cannot be reached from the grid on the ZOIA or Euroburo. In ZoE, click the overlapping grid button again to select the module underneath.
Select them with Shift+click or Shift+drag and copy. Choose the other page in the page menu and paste: the modules keep their layout and the connections between them. If the page has no room, ZoE takes the next page with room or asks. For a single module, Ctrl+D makes a copy with all its settings.
Ctrl+C · Ctrl+V · Ctrl+D
Build one voice on its own page and name the page with a number, such as “Voice 1”.
Select and copy: in Page view, Shift+drag a frame around the page’s modules (with the focus on All); in the Grid view, Shift+click them. Then copy.
Paste on a new page: choose + New page in the page menu and paste. The modules land on the same grid buttons with all their settings and the connections between them. The number in the page name counts up with the page: “Voice 1” on page 1 becomes “Voice 2” on page 2.
Reconnect external inputs: connections to modules outside the page, such as MIDI notes in or the mixer, are not copied. Drag each new input onto the matching input of voice 1 to give it the same source. Stars come along without their MIDI CC.
Ctrl+C · Ctrl+V
Select the modules you want: Shift+drag a frame around them, Shift+click adds or removes single ones. Copy them, then start an empty patch with New or open another patch, and paste. The connections between the copied modules come along.
Ctrl+C · Ctrl+V
Click Find and type part of a module’s name, its type, or its grid position, such as P2-B14 for page 2, button 14. Use ↑ and ↓ to choose a result, then Enter to go there.
Ctrl+F
Select it in Signal view and press G: the Grid view opens with that module selected. Press S to go back to the signal flow.
G · S
Press F once to see the selected module with its neighbours, press it again for the whole patch.
F
Press W to draw the connections under the modules, and press < to give the modules more room. > brings them closer again.
W · < · >
Click the connection and press J: the view jumps to one of its two modules. Press J again to jump to the other one.
J
Click an input module, such as Audio In or MIDI notes. Its connections and the next modules light up. Keep clicking the next one that lights up to follow any signal path step by step.
Open the Patch Map first: you see what goes in, what makes the sound and what comes out before you dive into the pages. Controls then lists everything you play.
With nothing selected, the Patch Inspector lists what ZoE found: errors in red, warnings in orange and notes in grey. Click an entry in the inspector to jump straight to the affected module and fix the problem there.
Press U to step through the modules without a connection, or click Cutm to delete the ones in view that need connections but have none.
U
Click the CPU meter: the breakdown shows which module types and which pages cost the most, so you know where saving pays off.
Export patch saves the .bin file, with the slot number at the start of its name. Copy it to the SD card, usually into the folder to_zoia. Any other folder works too: you choose the folder on the device each time you import. Then import it on your ZOIA or Euroburo.
On-device setup in the Patch Inspector lists the steps you still have to take on your ZOIA or Euroburo before the patch you are working on runs as intended, such as setting CPort in the Config Menu or putting its sample files on the SD card.
